What is Stomach Sensitivity?
The stomach is located at the upper part of the abdomen, linking the esophagus to intestines. The main function of the stomach is to receive the food consumed by a person and transform it into a more liquid substance. This is carried out when the gastric walls of the stomach press the food and begin the digestion process.

A sensitive stomach is simply a stomach that is easily irritated. Patients who suffer from sensitive stomach would also have several other symptoms, other than abdominal pain, like diarrhea, vomiting, gases, and nausea.
Usually people who suffer from a sensitive stomach would associate this with specific food or situations that they go through and would cause their stomach to react. Other patients would not be able to identify the reason behind their stomach sensitivity. Therefore, it’s extremely important to identify the reason behind a person’s sensitive stomach.
It is common that everyone would suffer from stomachache in various periods of their lives. However, this doesn’t mean that they have a sensitive stomach, except when they experience any regular problems that occur periodically. The sensitivity of the stomach occurs as an abnormal response of the stomach towards food and substances that are considered normal by most people.
There are mainly two types of sensitive stomach. The first is severe sensitivity. However, it only happens for a temporary period of time. The second type is the chronic sensitivity of the stomach that occurs when the patient is continuously exposed to the causes of sensitivity. In the most of the cases, this is because the patient couldn’t classify the real reason behind the sensitivity of the stomach.

The Causes of Stomach Sensitivity
Patients especially those suffering from chronic stomach sensitivity feel general discomfort when they eat certain types of food or substances. Others may have a problem in digesting all sorts of food.
It would be surprising to know that almost all types of food could make some people suffer from stomach sensitivity and discomfort. Of course, the kind of food that would irritate one person wouldn’t cause problems for other individuals. This is why it is significantly important to notice what you eat and recognize the main reason behind your stomach irritation.
Food that cause stomach sensitivity includes: –
•    Types of food that contain a large amount of fats like fried food. This is because it tires the stomach in the digestion.
•    Acidic fruits like oranges, grapefruits, and lemon
•    Smoking would surely irritate the stomach
•    Food and beverages that contain caffeine. This causes discomfort for a large sector of people.
•    Having a heavy meal would simply cause problems with the stomach. The regular consumption of large meals would result in a sensitive stomach.
•    The intensive usage of various spices and hot sauces could surely cause an inflammation in the stomach’s lining.
•    Many of the dairy products might cause stomach sensitivity. This because the center of the stomach is featured with being acidic. The substances in dairy products turn it    into alkaline and results in the stomach’s exhaustion.
•    The intake of large quantities of painkillers exaggeratedly on regular basis results in the stomach sensitivity. This would also lead to some serious complications afterwards.
•    If the infection with stomach bacteria is not treated properly, it causes ulcers in the stomach.

The Symptoms of Stomach Sensitivity
When patients suffer from stomach sensitivity for the first time, they might think they have something extremely serious in their digestive system. However, with the reoccurrence of the pain, they unfortunately get used to it.

–    The symptoms of stomach sensitivity include:
–    Severe pain in the stomach
–    Tartness and pain in the throat
–    Problems in breathing
–    Sometimes there are some pains in the back
–    Nausea that would lead to vomiting in some cases
–    Problems in movement due to the pain in the stomach
–    Frequent intestinal gas
–    Constipation
–    Diarrhea
–    Heartburns
However, there are severer symptoms of stomach sensitivity that require the intervention of doctors as soon as possible. It is as simple as; if the pain in the stomach is not bearable and prevents the individual from carrying out his normal daily activities, he should assuredly consult a doctor.
The presence of blood or some pus in the stool is also considered quite a negative symptom. If the patient suffers from diarrhea for a period, that is more than a couple of days, fever, and some allergic reactions including inflammation and itching, are among more serious stomach sensitivity symptoms.

The Cure of Stomach Sensitivity
There are several types of food, substances, and situations that would irritate stomachs, especially sensitive ones. In the cases of many patients, it requires a long period of time to recognize the particular reasons behind their sensitive stomach. This is why there are some general cures that would help people who suffer from stomach sensitivity.

Decrease the amount of food
The stomach, like any body organ, gets tired when its overused or exhausted. Easting lesser amounts of food would enable the stomach to relax and its performance would also be enhanced. Doctors advise patients with sensitive stomach to divide their meals. Instead of having only 3 meals around the day, it’s a good idea to have five or six meals with lesser amounts of food for sure.

Refrain from having foods that would upset the stomach
It is always a good idea to stop eating the types of food that are popular in irritating the stomach and resulting in more complications in the cases of stomach sensitivity. Dairy products, spices, hot sauces, fast food, alcohol, and fried types of food would sure worsen the case of patients with sensitive stomach.

Have lesser stress
Probably this is much easier to do than being simply said. However, being under severe stress for a long period of time would surely cause stomach sensitivity. Patients should find an activity that they enjoy in order to relief their stress and sensitive stomach. They should have a regular time where they have fun.

Eat anti-sensitivity types of food
There are some kinds of food that would improve the case of stomach sensitivity. These include some types of grains, low-fat dairy, lesser proteins, and hot drinks significantly help those who have problems with their sensitive stomach.

Drink water
People should drink around 4 liters of water every day. Patients who suffer from stomach sensitivity should carefully pay attention to the amount of water they consume. They might be having a chronic dehydration that has a negative impact on their stomachs. This would also have negative effects on the colon as well.

Reduce smoking, alcohol, and caffeine
At least one of smoking, alcohol, and caffeine would negatively impact a sensitive stomach. Patients who decrease the number of cigarettes they smoke, and also intake less alcohol and caffeine usually note that their situations are much better. For some patients, caffeine is considered an important element. They might think about reducing the cups of coffee they drink or at least change the timing of their coffees.
Stomach sensitivity is a non-medical term that refers to problems that some patients complain about with their stomach and the digestive system in general. Nevertheless, some slight improvements in their habits would make a difference. In other cases, medical intervention is a must, especially if they symptoms are severe.
