Radiology

The Hospital has an ultramodern Radiology and Medical Imaging department fully equipped with the state of art imaging modalities. It is managed by a team of dedicated specialized radiologists and technologists headed by a highly qualified and experienced senior consultant radiologist.
RIS / PACS
MRI
The latest MRI machine (1.5T) providing accurate imaging of brain, spine and, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, breast abdomen and pelvic organs .Unique whole body MR imaging without external coils is also available. It has all advanced sophisticated MRI techniques including Functional
MRI for the brain, breast and Heart, Diffusion MRI with ADC mapping, and diffusion tensor imaging, MR Spectroscopy, Perfusion Imaging, MRCP of the biliary tree and MRU of the renal system, Dynamic contrast studies for pituitary gland, breast, liver and kidney, MR angiography of the vascular system all over the body with and without contrast.
Multi-slice CT SCAN
Multi – slice CT, has increased the diagnostic capability in short time. With our most recent device (Multi slice-128), the study can be finished in few seconds. One of the distinct advantages of this machine is its ability to evaluate the coronary arteries of the heart non-invasively with a facility to estimate calcium scoring. This can be used as a screening method for high risk patients of coronary heart disease and postoperative follow up for patients with previous coronary by-pass grafts or coronary stents.
High quality 2D reformatted and 3D reconstructed images are available including volume rendering and surface shaded imaging. This is of great value in imaging of the skeleton and vascular system as well as the chest , abdomen and pelvis.
CT Virtual endoscopy for the colon, lungs as well as the larynx and Para nasal sinuses can be used replacing the invasive diagnostic endoscopy using the new software for 3D end luminal imaging.
Advanced CT angiography techniques using modern automatic injector are available. This is of great value in early detection of acute pulmonary embolism, excellent visualization of abdominal arteries and extremities, neck and brain vessels.
CT guided biopsies and drainage procedures are done routinely avoiding operative intervention in most cases.
FLUOROSCOPY
A modern fluoroscopy machine has been installed. All specialized fluoroscopic procedures such as hysterosalpingography, barium studies, sinography, fistulography, and descending and ascending cystouretherogphy can be performed on these efficient X-ray machines for proper visualization of the entire of GIT , urinary tract and female reproductive system with the least dose and time of x-ray exposure.
NUCLEAR MEDICINE
Nuclear Medicine comprises a set of techniques which allow doctors to evaluate the patient from the physiologic perspective, which translates to more accurate diagnoses and more effective treatments for patient when combined with traditional anatomical imaging. Nuclear Medicine is a specialty area of imaging which uses radioactive substances to create images of the body, and looks at both the physiology (functions) and the anatomy of the body in establishing diagnosis and treatment.
It is particularly useful in early detection of skelton metastases, evaluation of the renal function myocardial perfusion and thyroid gland disorders
ULTRASOUND
A sophisticated new ultrasound machine is available to perform vascular colour Doppler, muscular skeletal imaging, ultrasonography of superficial parts like breast , thyroid, neck and scrotum and Trans cranial , trans rectal and 3D trans vaginal ultrasound in addition to routine ultrasound studies.
US guided interventional procedures as Fine needle aspiration and Trans rectal prostatic biopsy
3D/4D ultrasound pregnancy scans 3D/4D scanning is an amazing three dimensional picture of your baby on the screen.4D is to see this 3D image in a real time moving state. Your baby can be moving, yawing, sucking its thumb and even smiling.
The equipment uses sophisticated techniques transforming the traditional ultrasound 2D scan such as the one that you have at the ordinary obstetric ultrasound examination.
Modality of the choice for a guidance in radio frequency abletion of hepatic tumors.
DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY
Full- field digital mammography system designed to provide physicians with clear and precise all-digital images rather than X-ray films. The system offers better visibility of the breast over high definition 5 mega pexel 2 screens with computerized detection of very tiny lesions particularly near the skin line, the chest wall, and in women with dense breast tissue. Examination time is reduced by half of the traditional film- based mammograms.
BONE DENSITOMETRY
An advanced, fully digitalized tool for assessment of qualitative and quantitative bone mineralization .It is particularly useful for early detection and follow up of patients with osteoporosis.
DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY
Advanced x-ray machines with digital X-ray detectors are used instead of traditional photographic film.
Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. Also less radiation can be used to produce an image of much better contrast than conventional radiography.
DIGITAL SUBTRACTION ANGIOGRAPHY SUITE
Angiography is an important new addition to endovascular medicine, and patients at the hospital can benefit from these imaging techniques and treatments.
The angiography suite helps to identify neuro-vascular problems by allowing clinicians to visualize the arterial and venous blood supply to the brain.
The angiography/endovascular suite provides:
State-of-the-art angiography equipment with subtraction , road mapping and 3D imaging techniques with capability to make localized CT cuts during interventional procedures.
Proven ability to help identify narrowing of crucial blood vessels to the brain or any organs.
Angiograms of head, neck, spine, and peripheral arteries.
Interventional procedures such as coiling of aneurisms, embolization of arteriovenous malformation (AVM), thrombolysis, balloon dilation, and stenting for the treatment of cerebrovascular and spinal problems as well as abdominal and peripheral vascular diseases.
It helps for all techniques of trans arterial chemoembolization of tumors in liver or any other organs.
Less invasive procedures for the treatment of cerebrovascular and spinal problems with a newest technology of percutaneous suction discectomy of cervical or lumber disc lesions without surgical intervention and under local anesthetic agent.
